# Logging in

> Your Schedulemaster credentials are your website credentials. How to sign in, stay signed in, and reset a password you have forgotten.

## What you sign in with

**Your Schedulemaster username and password.** The website has no separate account and no separate
password; it checks what you type against Schedulemaster every time.

If you can sign in at [my.schedulemaster.com](https://my.schedulemaster.com), the same credentials
work on the website. If you cannot, fix that first — see
[If you have forgotten your password](#if-you-have-forgotten-your-password) below.

## Signing in

1. Click **Login** in the site menu. If you tried to open a member page while signed out, the
   site has already sent you here and will return you to that page afterwards.
2. Type your Schedulemaster username into **Username** and your password into **Password**.
3. Tick **Remember me** if this is your own computer or phone and you would rather not sign in
   every visit. Leave it unticked on a shared or public machine.
4. Click **Sign In**. You land on your member profile, or on the page you were trying to reach.

## What happens when you sign in

Signing in does more than unlock the site. It is the moment the website reads your current details
from Schedulemaster and works out what you are allowed to see — your membership status, whether
you are an instructor, whether you own an aircraft, and any club administration roles you hold.

That is why **signing out and back in is the fix for so many "the website is out of date"

## If you have forgotten your password

Your password lives in Schedulemaster, so it is reset there — not on the website.

1. Click **Forgot your password?** underneath the sign-in form. It opens Schedulemaster's
   password reset page in a new tab.
2. Follow Schedulemaster's instructions. The reset is sent to the email address it has on file
   for you.
3. Return to the website and sign in with your new password.

  The reset goes to **the email address Schedulemaster has on file**, which may not be the address
  you use day to day. If nothing arrives, check your spam folder first, then contact the club — see
  [Getting help](/start/getting-help).

## There is no "create an account" here

The website does not let you register an account for yourself, and that is deliberate — website
access follows club membership, and club membership starts with an application.

* **Not a member yet?** Use **Apply to Join PCF** on the login page, or the **Apply** item in the
  site menu.
* **A former member wanting to come back?** Apply the same way. Sign in first if you still can, and
  the form skips ahead and fills in what the club already knows about you.

## Signing out

Sign out from the site menu. On a shared computer, sign out rather than closing the tab —
especially if you ticked **Remember me**.

## Troubleshooting

**"Username and password do not match."**
The website is repeating what Schedulemaster told it. Try signing in at
[my.schedulemaster.com](https://my.schedulemaster.com) directly. If that fails too, the problem is
your Schedulemaster password — reset it there. If Schedulemaster lets you in but the website does
not, contact the club.

**You sign in, but the member menu items are missing.**
Your account is probably signing in fine but is not marked as an active member. Retired members can
sign in and see public pages but not member tools. See
[Roles and access](/start/roles-and-access).

**You sign in and immediately land on a "Welcome back" page saying your membership is retired.**
That is the retired-member landing page, and it is working as intended. It offers a
**Re-Apply for Membership** button if you would like to come back.

**You are signed in, but the site keeps asking you to sign in again.**
Sessions expire after a period of inactivity. If it happens within a few minutes, check that your
browser is accepting cookies for pcflyers.org.

**You changed something in Schedulemaster and the website has not caught up.**
Sign out and sign back in. The website reads your details at sign-in.
